2 City Power contractors die after being stuck in a manhole, 3 rescued

Two City power contract workers have died after being trapped in a manhole in the Johannesburg CBD.
 
JOHANNESBURG – Two City power contract workers have died after being trapped in a manhole in the Johannesburg CBD.
Three other workers were rescued and rushed to the hospital.
It’s understood the 5 contractors were responding to a case of cable theft that occurred recently.
The city of Joburg’s Emergency Management Services rescued the three workers.
City Power says the cause of their death and why the workers became trapped remains unclear, as investigations into the fatal incident continue.
